Judd Apatow

I watched Pineapple Express, and I have to say, my Lordy-Lord, it lived up to its hype for me. And Judd brings out the best in all the actors, even Ed Begley Jr that had a bit part. If you have not seen this movie yet, I would highly recommend it. It’s a bit of a black comedy, but mostly gray comedy. If you are familiar with any of his aforementioned works, then you will know precisely what I’m talking about.
Many of you know James Franco as Harry Osborn in the Spiderman movies. This is a role totally opposite of that. In Spiderman, he’s all broody and well-off. In Pineapple, he’s a stoner drug dealer and he virtually steals the show with his emotional side. Apatow uses this well to his advantage. Mainly because you don’t expect Franco to be like that.
Superbad – I have to admit, this was a bit much for me, but once you got into the swing of the movie (which is pretty early on) you on for an awesome ride. It even started getting a t-shirt printed after one line in the movie, “I’m McLovin”
Forgetting Sarah Marshall – This stars Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Mila Kunis (That 70′s Show) and Russell Brand. Russell Brand is funny in his own right as the eccentric musician. And then you have over-sensitive Jason Segel on the other end. The comic timing between these 2 are exceptional.
The Cable Guy and Fun with Dick and Jane bring Judd Apatow and Jim Carrey together. Jim Carrey is known for his rubber-face and well, Judd using this to his advantage, makes funny movies out of both. But of the two movies mentioned, The Cable Guy will stand the test of time. The reason for this is, ‘Fun with …’ can only be directed so much, with a bad script. The script wasn’t overly bad, as it had its funny moments.
Well, in all, if you ever want to have a comedy evening, I would HIGHLY recommend the following in order of preference;
The Cable Guy
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Knocked Up
Superbad
Pineapple Express
You Don’t Mess with the Zohan
Enjoy it.. and thank me later
